Avalanche Training Dec 18-20 near Hope BC - AST1

#1 Post by rayhyland » Wed Dec 09, 2009 11:25 pm

Hey folks, we are jointly hosting an AST1 training session in Sunshine Valley (near Hope BC), from December 18-20.

A lot of us go wheeling in the snow, especially in the spring when the roads start to clear and the snow pack is unstable, and it is a good idea to be as prepared as we can be. I will be taking people up into the alpine area from Sunshine Valley in my tracked 110 if needed, but you can take your own rig or sled if you prefer to.

The course costs $200 which is the same cost as if you joined a big class, but this is going to be a lot more hands-on as we have booked the instructor directly. He is one of the top avalanche pros in Canada.

Friday night (after work) is a class setting and Saturday/Sunday are in the field. I can arrange free camping or cheap local b&b rooms if anyone doesn't want to commute each day.

PS - I don't make any money off this training, but I think it is good for us all to be as safe as we can be so I am happy to help promote it.

Cheers

Ray
