Transporting 2.25 Litre Motor
Has anyone ever transported a 2.25 lump in the back of their Series II 88?
Just wondering if it would fit and whether it would be too heavy. I imagine one weighs around 500 lbs, I've had a couple of fat friends in the back that weighted more than that...
Any issues getting it in using a normal engine hoist?
Tx
Paul.

11a engine
Hi,
\
I dont see a problem with the weight.
I remember moving a 3-9 V8 with transmission and oil in my 11a.
The engine hoist will be fine as long as its in good working condition,

As long as the floor is good and the cross supports are sound, the engine will travel in there just fine. I've moved a couple that way in my Series 3 no problem... and it really improves the ride! :D
You really need to shorten up the lifting straps/chains but you should have no trouble using a normal hoist.

Transporting 2.25 engine
Hi You can do it quite easy. Four of us( 3 guys and my wife) picked up and carried through the garage my complete 2.25 petrol engine. We then lifted it into my Volkswagon vanagon by muscle power only. It was on a pallet and was not that hard to lift.
It might be a little harder getting it into the back of a 88.

Your 88 is rated to carry 1000 pounds PLUS driver and two passengers. So no issue with the weight, just keep it forward in the load bay.pquin wrote: ... and whether it would be too heavy. I imagine one weighs around 500 lbs, ...

2.25 motor
 I carried a 2.25 motor in the back of my lightweight for Clive Robinson. Picked it up from Dixon Strachan on Thetis and transported it to Clives place in Victoria. Two things happened. It improved the ride and I can't remember what the second thing was. It's a Land Rover. You should be able to carry spares for a Chiefton tank in the back. Mind you those S3's are kinda sissy

 Paul ! didn't realise it was you. Your S2 can move mountains. How's Navy life treating you? Have seen you a few times out and about in your Rover. How about a coffee night. PM me.
