Kodiak Heater Controls

#1 Post by willincalgary » Thu Feb 23, 2012 5:39 am

Does anybody have a picture of an original control panel for the Kodiak Mk4 heater? I have a heater with no control panel and I would like to build one with push pull controls for the fresh air intake baffle, coolant control valve and fan speed. I am not a stickler for originality but would like to be close if I can.
Thanks,
Will

Kodial heater

Hi Will

If you search for a site called Expedtion Landrover or Terry Ann Wakeman Landrover you will find every thing you will ever need to know about Kodiak heaters. The Kodiak secton is way down near the bottom of her extensive Landrover site.
One thing that unfortunatly is not there is a picture of the Kodiak control panal. This flat piece of metal seemed to vary in size. I think the dealer or garage who installed the heater just kind of made there own out of 1/8 inch thick metal.
If you PM me your email I can send you some Pictures of the control panal from my original 1962 Landrover which up till 10 years ago was also from Calgary.
The original style hot water shut off valve is still available at Lordco. The 2 speed ceramic resistor fan control is also still avavalable but the original chrome knob has to be glued on to the control shaft.
Also when the fan and core unit is installed back into the engine compartment make sure all the joints are really sealed tight or the heater will suck engine fumes into the rover.
