Tool Kit
OK I like to ask all you more experienced rover owners
your Ideas for a reasonable weekend trip took kit,
Could I have your suggestion(s) for what you've found that will cover you for the week-end patch up kit- not only tools but any key parts?
it is for a 300 tdi 90 RRC thanks

Re: Tool Kit
That is a nearly impossible question to answer...as you can never predict what will break. The list below is about what is in my truck all of the time. I take more stuff when going on a trip.
- Standard set of hand tools, socket set, wrenchss, pliers, screw drivers, hammer, pry bar.
- Special tools.. Hub socket, snap ring pliers
- Duct tape, bailing wire...
- Basic electrical tools, connectors, fuses, stripper/crimper.
- Tire plugs plugging tool.
- Bucket to catch fluids
- Rags
- Gear oil, brake fluid, PS fluid.
- CV joint, halfshafts (if you are still stock)
- U-joint.
- Set of hub bearings and hub seal.
- Engine belts.

I carry the above (minus halfshafts - I have a 24 spline Salsbury axle)
I also carry a set rad hoses...just in case.
...and of course JB WELD and some real aluminum Duct Tape...love the stuff.

Re: Tool Kit
Some great info above, the only things I would add, large plastic tyraps, metal baling wire and a can of spare fuel.
The advantage of going in a group of course is you also have half a dozen trucks with all their spare gear if needed.
Cheers, Andy
Oh, yeh also add a toilet roll to your list :bounce:

Re: Tool Kit
Definitely Toilet Paper! :bounce:
Also, some nitric gloves, a bit of hand cleaner (doubles as a parts cleaner), a fire extinguisher, drinking water (that can double as coolant), leatherman, a good quality small flashlight, bandaids, self-adhesive tape wrap (for temp repairs to hoses).
Cheers, Rob

Re: Tool Kit
If they are stock shafts, it can't hurt to carry spares. I've seen them break on stock trucks. And then there are the front axle shafts.Dave_F wrote: I have a 24 spline Salsbury axle
