New Guy Says 'Hi'
Hi Roverlanders!
My name's Craig and I have just joined the club (thanks, Pam). I'm new to Land Rovers and off roading, but I've admired both from afar for many years. I'm in the South Surrey area and I'm the proud new owner of a 2008 Range Rover. I'm heading out on my first adventure tomorrow with the beginners expedition in Abbotsford and I'll meet the convoy at Tim Horton's (thanks, Andy).
I've also been invited on the Whipsaw trip next weekend (thanks everyone at the Surrey meeting). I'm worried that it may be a bit extreme for my vehicle, but I'll check with the group on Sunday. If that's the case, is there anyone who's going, has an extra seat and wouldn't mind a passenger?
Cheers!

Hi Craig,
Welcome to the club, great to hear you are coming out for an adventure tomorrow, should be some BIG puddles with all this rain.
See how you feel after this run before deciding on the Whipsaw, it will give you a little taste of the terrain.
I will see you at Whatcom Road (exit 95 Hway#1) between 9-9.30am. If you get there early fill up with gas and coffee!
Cheers, Andy

A 2008 Range rover is why to nice to do some off roading.
But enjoy it, don't wreck it. It is not a defender :D

We took a bunch of the new LR models through the rough stuff on the weekend and they came out with flying colours....
If the obstacles are taken slow and steady with a positive mind set they can go to some amazing places....
By the way, Great job on Sunday Craig, the weather made the run a little "slick" to say the least. For your first off-road run you did an awesome job!
Skeena, you are right, they do look way too nice to take off road, but the crazy thing is, the price of a nice Defender is about the same as a nice LR3 or Range Rover !

Hi Andy,
Nice pics. Yep you are right the price is the same. But a defender is cheaper to fix:) But nice to see they still have it. They did not loose there heritage.
ps where is that trail?

We were on Vedder Mountain, near Abbotsford. The Range Rover was amazing. It kept up with everything without a problem. The electronics did their stuff and told me about terrain settings and locked the differentials automatically as needed.I did get a bit of damage though to the wheels because of the low profile tyres. The main advantage of the Defenders seems to be that off roading mishaps ad 'character.' A Range Rover just gets scratches. I'm playing it safe this weekend and going as a PASSENGER.
