Land Rover confirms new version of its Defender model

Land Rover will release an all-new version of its Defender model in 2015, it has confirmed.

It would be interesting to see what the 5-door (110 equivalent) will be like.

I don't think it's that bad; it looks like a big, pissed off, bmw-mini to me.

Tata is going to want to give their 'signature' to it, so there's no way they'll keep the old shape (typical corporate ego masturbation). Luckily there's hudreds of thousands of real defenders made.

they should fire their designer

that thing is wayy too pretty and looks to have zero practicality ( big molded bumpers etc... )

Land Rover Defenders have a history and it seems they have forgotten that.
I'm sure it also has independent suspension and electronic doo dads for traction

I guess if you want a real frame and axles you'll have to get a JK

Actually, I pulled up some large pictures of the DC100 concept, and I kinda like it...

When the geniuses at LR released the DC100 concept, I wept. Hearing they'd leave the Defender name to the trucks that truly deserved that distinction and the new atrocity would be called the DC100, I was okay again. I find myself now tearing up at the thought of a plastic reduxed-Freelander taking the iconic name and forever ruining the legacy that's 60+years strong.

Just sad. But, it does make me appreciate my Defender THAT much more!
