Drive shaft rebuilders on the island

#1 Post by Rob » Sun Feb 24, 2013 9:22 pm

Hi all

I'm looking for someone who can rebuild and balance the front drive shaft on my Disco 2. Anyone know a reputable drive shaft shop on the island that is rover friendly?

Cheers, Rob

You've got me Rob. I don't have an answer. A few years ago I asked at the Freightliner dealer who has the equipment and balancer. They guy behind the counter went a little weird and then i noticed that dollar signs were swirling around in the whites of his eyes. I couldn't even afford to look at the equipment let alone have them do any work for me with it.

Someone in Nanaimo MUST have the right equipment.

Hi Rob

When I was going through my drive shaft fiasco the place every one kept sending me to was" Intertruck" in the Duncan industrial area. However they would not give me a price not even to just look at it. That is the only place down this way I know of. Good luck

( By the way Steven found out why his defender lost all drive. The clutch disc tore it self to pieces. )

Western Drivetrain & Machine at 221 Southside drive Nanaimo 720 0328 / Go west at Maki road and follow the road over the railway and in a building on the right just beyond the tracks .
They have done three repairs on LR drive lines for Andrew and I . Decent chap and fair pricing - not cheap but good work .

Thanks for the leads, I'll check them out this week! I'm looking to get a rebuild and balance... hopefully it will be more economical than replacement units.
