April - BBQ and Off-Road fun day Sunday 14th April
Hi All,
Our social gathering for April is on Sunday 14th April, we plan to set up a couple of BBQs and have a fun off-road play day. Come on out to talk Land Rovers, have a few hot dogs, get muddy, meet fellow Rover-Landers and have fun!
What - Off-road & BBQ - Fun day / Social gathering
When - 11am to 4pm Sunday 14th April
Where - Triangle Road, Richmond (drive to the very south end of #6 road, turn onto Triangle road and follow it East along the river, all the way to the very end)
Co-ords - N49 08.824 W123 02.750
Just a fun casual play day, if you want to pick up some new tips, practise using that new winch, or just watch everyone get stuck! Free hot dogs, chips, donuts & soft drinks for Rover-Lander members.
Bring boots, it will get muddy! Bring an umbrella, it will be going ahead rain or shine. Bring tug straps, Bring your Cameras.
Cheers

Yes that was a great day out. A big thank you to all of the people who came and particularly to those who put lunch on. Carla and I had a wonderful time, and it nice to see Olive muddy for once. ANDY very sorry about your truck. We hope that the blue smoke is only a valve stem seal and not a cracked ring or head gasket. My wife presented some very sage advice which is funny as it is the first time she has ever really been off-road. The advice is this. "If you see bullrushes growing in your path..pick a shallower place to cross."

Made it a little late, but it was a great spot (even with some of the impolite dirt bikers).
Was nice to see some familiar faces, and meet some new people.
Who had the burgundy discovery with the interesting fabricated rear bumper? I like the look of that, and was wondering if there was more info on that bumper?
Cheers :D

2 cheers to all involved in lunch :D
3 good luck Andy, I hope Big Blue is soon back in fine form without the wallet taking too big a hit.

Good to hear everyone had a good time, the warm sunshine certainly helped.
Yes, I was a little too adventurous with that water crossing, my engine still running but makes big clouds of white smoke, will need some work I suspect ....thanks to all for assisting with the "dewatering" job on site.
I found a loose clamp on the snorkel pipe that I suspect was the place of water entry ... Hummmm

Re: April - BBQ and Off-Road fun day Sunday 14th April
A good tip I learnt from this day is for anyone with a snorkle, re-check out all the connecting joints, especially the lower ones. My snorkle joints looked good but in fact one clamp had crushed the inner pipe and deformed it enough for the clamp to come loose and leave an air gap for the water to be sucked into the engine. It may be worth actually using a good sealant on all the joints if you plan to do a lot of wading.
