I'll go if I have my brakes fixed by then. But it doesn't look promising, it's hard to source that part and not pay an arm and a leg. Bloody RRC using a weird ABS pump and accumulator, grr. :(

I'll be attending. Last year was a lot of fun.

Looks like fun... my L322's low range is currently inactive (broken switch) and doubt I'll have it working in time... will this be an issue for the off road excursion?

Cheers

No low range in a RR with an automatic transmission? Shouldn't be a problem. It would be better if it had it but many people have an off-road driving style that never uses low range. Some downhill sections would be nicer in low but light brake application are what most vehicles use anyway.

0900 Saturday June 8th is the driver's meeting. Everyone should be fuelled and ready to go by that time with breakfast packed away. Hoping to pull out of the farm at 0930 in convoy. We stop for lunch, possibly at a mountain top cabin at 3300 ft. or lakeside at 2200 ft. Hope to be back at the farm before 1800 (6 PM). Bring your own lunch of course and if you have to heat something, bring your own heating device. Bring a radio, VHF 2m; CB; GMRS; FRS or ?

Victor and I did a trial run on Monday. About 110 km with 85 on gravel, dirt and rock. I didn't feel a need to air down my tires and most vehicles should be able to make the run as long as they don't mind bush scratches. Short overhang and high rear bumper will help in the above ground culverts, some of which are pretty tight. Over the years we have been to all of the technical areas before but not in the same year/drive.

See you on Saturday the 8th of June.

For instructions on how to get there, www.vanislelandrovernetwork.com and go to the "Rally details" menu item.

Looks like this will be my first "real" off road in my series since I finished rebuilding it. I'm confident my trucks mechanically capable, but the tires are Michelin LTX a/s , tough but not very aggressive hope they're good enough, still saving for new defender rims and tires. Sounds like its going to be a great day, I'll start tightening bolt's now.....

I was asked by the service manager at the Victoria land rover dealer if he can join us this coming weekend for the off road drive.......in his jeep! I've already given him a hard time abut that. What's our etiqutte on non land rovers for the off road drive?

There is at least one more Jeep coming. I'm open to it.

I think, after Dave's win with his 'slightly modified' Land Rover Bedford truck, that the boat's already sailed on this one. The more the merrier. :D
A nice Land Cruiser and her owner got Ming (my Disco) out of the Fraser River. You can't keep a prejudice when someone does you a favour.

I might be able to make the event, but no guarantee. We're moving from Duncan to Shawnigan on the 10th so last minute packing shenanigans might take precedence lol. However.... it would be a great chance for me to really see what my LR4 can do. Got a white one for the plain reason that it'll hide scratches :bounce:

Might even come down just for a hello if I can't make the offroad drive, I live right around the corner.

LR4 will go everywhere we are going and as long as you keep it in the track. There isn't too much bush to scratch it excessively.

Greg do you own the light blue Defender I've seen on Lakes Rd a few times?

ROTFL

That was our Richmond off road trip. I on the site, by the beach, and had a bit of bother with some innocent looking, but very gooey, mud. A kind gentleman with a RHD Cruiser winched me out.

Actually, I was one of the few NOT playing u-boat captain that day.

I was a little worried about the warnings regarding "scratches"... But now you have me re-thinking things...

I am supposed to be attending a 4 year old's birthday party at the same time - so I'm likely still a "no go"!

Ok gents, who is coming to the island for a weekend full of fun, camping, story telling and exploring new trails? I attended last year and had a great time! The weather looks great for this adventure. I've convinced Karen to come up from Seattle with her truck (the old green Disco), so post up.
