Revelstoke.... members

#1 Post by LandyAndy » Sat Dec 11, 2004 3:08 am

Hi,

As I already noted in my first post myself & the wife are planning to emmigrate to BC soon. We have been looking at Revelstoke as a possible place to park the landy and wondered if there are there any club members living in this area ?

Cheers,
Andy

There are a few members in the north Okanagan region, about 1-2 hours from Revelstoke, but none actually in Revelstoke as far as I know. I think your closest is Rick Tenveen who lives just east of Salmon Arm. The other close ones are Martyn Russell at Tappen, and Jim Skelton in Vernon.

Hi all,

Further to my previous posts about our intended emigration. Myself & the wife will be BC bound in June. We'll get into Vancouver on 4/6 and depart Calgary on 16/6. In between we intend on visiting Kamloops, Salmon Arm & Revelstoke. At this time were not 100% sure where we intend to settle but Revelstoke & Salmon Arm are high on the list.

It would be nice if we can meet up with some club members whilst were over and if anyone can give us some local insight to both those towns we'd be most grateful.

Cheers,
Andy & Jackie

I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong. My impression is that Salmon Arm doesn't have as wicked a winter and has less snow. Revelstoke isn't as hot in the summerit is cooler year round due to the shade from the mountains. Salmon Arm is a PRIME summer tourist destination. Heat, Lake, Sand, Sun & Boating.

My intitial thought (never having lived in Revelstoke) is "Why would anyone want to?" It is a lovely place if you do live there because of financial situation (Job) but is many hours drive from a major center. But if you could choose anywhere you wanted to----? Salmon Arm would be CRAZY in the tourist season.

Personal thoughts. I've never lived in either area, only driven through or stopped to camp. (Yup, tourist.)

Are you around for awhile? I'm in the north Okanagan all week next week, starting June 13th.

8) It's unfortunate you're not in Duncan on Vancouver Island over the 11th-12th of June. There promises to be 25-30 Land Rovers in Gregg's back yard. You would meet a lot of us then, and possibly get in some good old Landie fun
