Hi all, I'm not the person who is organizing this but I thought I should post it here as well for interested parties. It's kinda short notice but if any of you could show up to help, I know everyone would be very appreciative. Last year we cleaned up something like 12,000 pounds of garbage and scrap metal from the trail area and the locals seemed to really appreciate it. This sort of event helps to keep trails more accessible to us 4x4 enthusiasts because it paints us with a nicer brush than the usual folks who just accuse us of ruining the environment.
I've simply copy/pasted this part from the thread on bcjeepclub.ca, a Jeep forum which I have been a member of since last years trail cleanup day.
I'll be attending this one as well and I hope to see others there but if not, I'm sure you'll be there in spirit.
Here's the information from the thread, from Cathi (the organizer).

Hello all!! This year we have decided to hold our 2nd annual Hill 60 area mountain clean-up on Saturday, September 14th.
September 14, 2013 at Chemainus River Park on Highway 18 & Hillcrest Road, (Duncan BC)....10 a.m start time
For those who missed last years event this is a way for the club to give back to the community by cleaning up the hill 60 area as well as collecting toys for kids and $526.00 from the 3,600 pounds of metal removed for the Presidents Choice Childrens Charity.
The Hill 60 area is a place where most of our lower island members have wheeled, from stockers to mods. Many "newb" runs have been held in the area, getting new jeepers hooked on our hobby but doing so in a less then pristine area. Unfortunately the close proximity to Duncan also attracts "the Dumper". People to cheap to pay dump fees. Last years cleanup was a huge success with tons of trash removed from the area.
At the same time as cleaning up the area we will also be collecting toys for the less fortunate kids of the area. On top of the toys once the clean up is done there will be a BBQ and a raffle for door prizes donated by local business. Proceeds from the raffle and scrap metal bin will be going to the Presidents Choice Childrens Charity. Since we(island members) don't have an official bcjeepclub toy run for Christmas this is a great way for the club to give to the kids. For those that don't know the Presidents Choice Children's Chariety is 100% non profit. 100% of the money collected from the scrap metal and raffle goes to children in our area. Recently at y2ktj's store they have given away 10's of thousands to families for things like lift equip vans, elevators and the like. On top of all that we are cleaning up the trails so they will still be around so our kids can wheel them!
Some of the sponsors for this years event:
Steel Pacific and Coast Environmental will be donating bins for the garbage and metal and the C.V.R.D are once again waiving their tipping fee for us. Other numerous businesses, such as The Real Canadian Superstore, Westshore Spring & 4x4, Bow Mel Chrysler, craig st. brew-works, mr. mikes, cowichan aquatic center and a bunch more are supporting the clean-up/toy run with prizes for the raffle.
Here's a link to the facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/201802269974831/
Post up either here or on the facebook page if your coming so we have an idea of how many bodies we need to feed.
-----------------------------------------------
So yeah, come on out if any of you have the time. It's a good way to meet new friends and see what others in the 4x4 community are up to as well as an opportunity to do something good for the environment.

Hello
I helped on one of these clean ups about 6 years ago it was kind of fun with a great barbeque at the end. I am going to try and get out for this one. Our Rover group uses this area all the time.

I don't want to be the only Land Rover there again this year, the Jeep boys (and girls) always tease me about my rig.

It was a great day out ,we hauled a lot of trash back to 2 huge dumpsters. I think we made a difference. I found a new abandoned building foundation from the old mining days on the mountain that I have never seen before it pays to try some different trails for a change. We finished the day off with a free barbeque and piles of donated prizes. The BC jeep club did a superb job of organizing this clean up event.
