Hey guys,
Looking at a new Timing belt kit for 300tdi and I see the genuine LR belt is about 5 times the price of the Dayco belt. I've heard it said that the genuine belt is made by Dayco and is basically the same part?
So thoughts on that? Is the genuine one worth the extra $100?
I have a later engine that already has the upgraded pulleys.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Timing Belt
OEM is fine. I've not ever seen a quality difference from OEM to Genuine with LR parts. What gets people more is not changing idlers and seals.

Re: Timing Belt
Thanks guys for the replies, so appears that the general consensus is to go with the Dayco belt. (rather than the Dayco belt with the LR logo on it, for 4 times the price :? )
These all come in a "300tdi Timing belt kit" so are the idlers & seals in the Genuine parts kit any better than the Idler & seals in the aftermarket kit?
Cheers, Andy
PS - is there anyone out there who has ordered and used the Land Rover genuine 300TDI Timing belt Kit that can give us some feedback???
So how about the idlers and seals? Aftermarket or genuine parts? What gets people more is not changing idlers and seals - Red90

Re: Timing Belt
Andy I just re did the timing belt and both front and rear crankshaft seals ( amongst other things inside my 300tdi ) and got the belt ( dayco ) and corteco brand seals from Jeremy at Rocky Mountain.. I don't know what is so all fired great about "genuine" parts anyway , a lot of the time auto manufacturers use the most low bidder shite and aftermarket parts are better. You just have to be careful that you are not replacing "genuine" low bidder stuff with parts that are worse
