Does anyone know the specific sizing of the bolts that hold the upper rear tailgate on a RRC (88). There are 2 of these which connect the hinge to the tailgate. They have a flat head and a torx internal (6 lobe) head. Anyone had cause to source some of these in stainless or have any sitting around in their toolkit? I've looked in my maintenance manual and didn't see the info but then I could have been looking on the wrong pages.
cheers
Chris

Re: RRC upper rear tailgate bolts
Hi Chris,
I have some at home and I'm able to source them at my local Ace hardware. Not in stainless, however.
I'll measure them and gauge the thread tonight for you.

I never had the come out without stripping the torx drive or snapping off completely. Save yourself the headache and re tap them 1/4-20 and put in stainless socket flat heads.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea but first I'll try sourcing some the same size in stainless. 3 of the 4 came out after some coaxing but the last one was destroyed in the process. Unfortunately I only see my RRC briefly on weekends since I work away from home. Have to clear the 'honey do' list each weekend before I get to play.
