Whipsaw Off-Road Adventure Oct 22nd- 23rd
Whipsaw - Off Road Adventure - Oct 22nd - 23rd (updated dates)
Hard to believe the end of the season run is already upon us, this is likely the last overnight run for 2016.
Here is the general itinerary;
Saturday 22nd Oct;
Meeting at the Whipsaw Creek turnoff on Highway #3 at 11am, ready to run the legendary Whipsaw Trail.
An option is to meet at Whatcom Road in Abbotsford at 7.30am (departing at 8am sharp) for those who want to convoy up.
Note; the last fuel is at Eastgate just after Manning Park on highway #3, Another option would be to head up Friday afternoon and camp out at Copper Creek which is only a couple of km's from the Whipsaw trail.
Saturday night at Lodestone Lake with a BIG camp fire, Note - prepare for cold weather, likely a new layer of fluffy white snow at the camp!
Sunday 23rd Oct
Pack up camp and head West along the Champion FSR arriving at the Coquihalla (highway 5) near the old toll booths around 1pm.
Heading for home down the Coquihalla to Hope and home.
Come on out and enjoy Beautiful British Columbia in the Fall, lots of orange, red and green with a splattering of new fluffy snow!
Its important to let us know if you are coming along and where you plan to meet the group.
Post up here with any questions,
Cheers,
Andy

I am in, assuming there are no issues with my return flight from the States on Fri evening.
I live in Chilliwack. I will wait for the caravan along the Hwy 1 shoulder in Chilliwack (just after exit 120) if this is okay with everyone.
I will have my mobile ham tuned in to 146.460

Hey Guys,
It looks like there is a typhoon fueled wind and rain storm heading towards BC on Thursday and may continue through the weekend.
https://www.theweathernetwork.com/news/ ... oast/72975
We will be watching the forecast through the week to see how this develops but there is a chance that we will have to reschedule this trip, maybe to the following weekend? Keep your options open if possible, no point being huddled inside your truck all weekend with the wind and rain lashing around us!
UPDATE - Confirmed, this trip has been postponed, possibly to the next week if there is interest.
Cheers, Andy

Hey Andy,
Have you thought about alternative destinations for the run? Three days of rain down here (this weekend) could be three days of snow up thar! It gets cold in Princeton mid week next week.
I'll be checking out my chains for fit with the skinnier tyres.
David

I think we can make it again due to the postponement. I have a truck bed tent on its way that I cant wait to try. Probably bring a kid or two and maybe even the wife.

I'm in. Probably meet you at the turn off Saturday morning at 1100. I'm really slow up "tham thar hills" so I'll head out a little earlier; save me beating myself to death trying to keep up.
I'm working on Bill. Any slagging from Stuart and Andy is gratefully accepted.

Hi Andrew,
Yes, we be departing Whatcom Road at 8am, getting back on highway #1. I will call you on the radio as we depart Whatcom.
It looks like we have half the group meeting at Whatcom Road (7.30am) and half the group meeting at the Whipsaw FSR turnoff (11am)
Weather still looks good, should be a great weekend. Bring an extra blanket for over-night!
See you there ....
cheers, Andy

Hey Andy,
I couldn't convince Bill to come out this weekend. His truck has a clutch master cylinder issue and he's actually up to his armpits in alligators with work so I'm not mocking him too much. Especially as me and Stuart jammed out of the Oregon trip with him 'n' Bernie/April this summer. Oh wait! so did you.....

Nuts, my rock rails were in a shipping vehicle accident and are delayed to Monday delivery. Now I have to wait until after Whipsaw. :bounce:

Home safely after a amazing weekend on the Whipsaw. One of my favourite runs through the Whipsaw. Lots & lots of snow to make it very scenic but not enough to stop us getting through. Great group to share the experience with 8) thanks for coming out.
More photos coming soon....
Cheers,
Andy
