Mt. Sicker Snow Run, Monday January 2nd

#1 Post by obalme » Fri Dec 30, 2016 9:56 pm

Anyone up for a run up Mt. Sicker? The plan is to meet at the C.V.I restaurant (Cowichan Valley Inn) across from the forest museum just north of Duncan at 8:30 for breakfast. Leave at 9:30 and head to Mt. Sicker to find some snow.

Hi guys

Well that was one of the best drives I have been on. Lots of fun we had a great breakfast, amazing views, lots of exercise digging out stuck rovers.I learned how to repair a broken tire chain, we towed a Jeep with a broken coolant hose 5 KMs. down hill back to the main road and repaired the coolant hose problem and were then rewarded with a fresh cold 24 pack of Vancouver Islands finest beer (Lucky)
Great day.

Yeah, that was a fun adventure, all LWB trucks, two Defender110s and a 2A 109 in the lead. Thanks to Colin and Oliver for organizing it. It was sort of a typical "snowflake chase" excursion drive into the hills, cover 40kms in a couple of hours then spend a couple of more hours trying to cover the next 400 meters... it was a day of snow, ice, shovels, winches, tow straps, tire chains and lots of fun. Greg, in typical form was the good Samaritan towing a broken down J##p out if the bush and then repairing the engine to boot! We wrapped-up the day with a quick game of coolant jug curling and walking like penguins (long story). Here's a couple of pics to prove we did it 8)

Yes, it was a great day. My son and I learnt some new driving techniques. Thank you to Greg and Jared for winching us back onto the track.

Cheers, Oliver

I disagree. No one got stuck, there was no winching or pull straps, no shovelling, because "if there's no pictures, then it didn't happen" and nobody has any pictures therefore we just had a very nice snow-day drive. Missed my lunch but Jared finally got me a Snickers bar. And yes, we did tow a Jeep down the hill. Pity we didn't fix his heater hose at the beginning instead of the end. Oops, still no pictures so I guess that Jeep thing didn't happen either.

I need to hear more about fixing that tire chain. Oh, pardon me. No pictures so no chains were used or broken.
