West Harrison Lakeside Campout - 6th-7th May
Hi All,
With the good possibility of some sunshine on the weekend a few of us are heading up the west side of Harrison Lake to start the camping season off. We will drop down to Hale creek beach / (possibly Fossil Beach depending on the group size).
What - A weekend Camp Out (could be a one day run if you cant stay overnight).
Where - Up the west side of Harrison Lake, down to Hale Creek beach.
When - meeting at the Subway Restaurant on Highway 7, Mission (34963 Lougheed highway) at 9.30am, grab some breakfast and a take out lunch - There is a gas station that does Petrol and Diesel next to the Subway. If you need fuel, fuel up first when arriving, departing at 10am sharp. Google Link - http://goo.gl/maps/XNnzk
Why - Fresh mountain air, the adventure, beautiful scenery, dust off the camping gear, your Land Rover needs exercise...
What Else - Family friendly, camp fire on the beach, bring your canoe! Bring everything you need for the weekend. Back on the road at Mission on Sunday around 3pm.
All Rover-Landers welcome. Hope to see you there....

I thought Fossil beach was closed due to logging.

Fossil Beach is open again, easy to get into but requires winching to extract your vehicle out of there. Its a little deceptive because going down is easy but getting back up is quite challenging. We will likely be camping on Hale Creek Beach which has fairly easy access.
I will post some access info in the "land use and road access tab"

Is winching required going back out on the south end or is it on the north end? Seemed like when we were there last year it was no winchy.

Okay if I invite a neighbour to join us if we have enough spots? He drives a Geo Tracker with lockers.

Hi Bryan,
Winching is required to get out of Fossil Beach (roads have all changed since you were there last due to forest fires). We will be going down to Hale Creek beach for camping, so no winching required.
Anyone wanting to try out their winch can take a side trip over to Fossil beach from our camp (only 10 mins away).
Andrew,
Yes, no worries, bring your neighbour along, we can send him down to Fossil for the entertainment
Cheers,
Andrew

I think watching a lifted and locked Tracker climb like a mountain goat will just make the rest of us feel bad.

Thanks Andy. It will be fun trip I'm sure. I kind of forgot that fossil beach was a second right off the main loop. I wish I could go but I'm getting prepped for a trip 5/20-5/21. Have a great time.ANDYD wrote:Hi Brian,

Good first camping trip Andy.
Nice job Photoshopping out the power lines.
Who's the idiot parked below the high tide line. There's always one in every crowd. :bounce:
