Winter Wonderland - Off Road Run - Sunday 31st Dec
After all that extra turkey & chocolates its time for some good mountain air...
What - An off-road run in the back woods of BC
When - Meet at 9.30am at Timmy's at Whatcom Road turn off of Highway #1 on Sunday 31st December.
Where - Chilliwack area, starting from Cultas Lake to heading to Foley Lake.
What Else - It should be a Winter Wonderland, the run is flat and level so although there is new snow progress should be steady.
Arrive at the meeting spot a little earlier if you need fuel / breakfast / lunch. Good off-road tyres will be required, bring snow chains if you have them. Family friendly, come on out for some good mountain air and enjoy the sunshine. (bring sunglasses 8) its going to be sunny). Aiming to be back on the road at 4pm.
Post up if your coming so we can look out for you, we will be departing Whatcom Road at 9.45am sharp .....

Re: Winter Wonderland - Off Road Run - Sunday 31st Dec
This will be a " learning curve" for me as my first off road run! Talked to Chris and he thinks I should be OK.....lots of help around if I get myself into trouble!
So I will be there.

Is the run flat enough for a truck to run it?
Cheers,
Cam.

Hi Cam,
The run is flat (ish) as far as steep elevations and hill climbs go but there are still a few cross ditches and irregular terrain. If it has low plastic parts front and back I wouldn't recommend it. If it's like Bob's "sled" he seems to go everywhere with that truck.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Winter Wonderland - Off Road Run - Sunday 31st Dec
Well, it was certainly a "Winter Wonderland" out in Chilliwack after the heavy snow and ice rain the week before.
A good turn out, a keen 10 vehicle convoy set out from Tim's on New Years Eve to explore the local mountains.
A good mix of vehicles, 2 Defenders, 3 Discovery's, 1 Range Rover and 3 LR3's ...and 1 Land Cruiser.
The sun came out as forecasted and scenery was spectacular. A couple of interesting snow challenges but generally a nice relaxing route. Good to catch up with everyone over lunch in the warm sunshine, last run of the year to close out 2017.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Cheers,
Andy

Thanks Andy for a great " first" outing for me...I had a great time! Thanks everyone for their words of encouragement and advice on lines to take! I'm looking forward to many more outings! Was great to meet some more members of the Rover Landers.
Any chance of getting a copy of the picture of me coming up the "hill"?

Hi Deborrah,
You did awesome on your first off-road adventure, maybe you will inspire more Lady members to take on the adventure challenge.
As requested, here is you on the "Hill" .... (plus another one of James at the bottom showing how big the climb was!)
cheers,
Andy
