1998 Disco CDL seized?

By any chance might it be an early Disco II without a Centre Diff Lock?

If this is your 1st Discovery, it can be a little tricky engaging a functioning diff lock & or engaging low range. Try this, with the vehicle rolling along (speed less than 8k/5mph) transmission in neutral, shift the CDL from hi range to low range then immediately push lever to left/locked position. You can try this stationary as well be engaging neutral on the transmission, pull the CDL down to low range, you probably won’t be able to complete the shift into low range at this point momentarily shift the transmission back into “driveâ€
