Looking for an Isuzu 4bd1T engine
Anyone know where I can find an Isuzu 4bd1 or 4bd1T without going overseas?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I'd try giving Ray a call at global roamer. He isn't a dealer in them but seems to know where to get them.

Just curious, which Isuzu truck / model has that engine?

My 1994 Isuzu elf has this engine in it. Great engine, very smooth. Maybe look for a JDM dealer in van and see if they can bring in engines?

Re: Looking for an Isuzu 4bd1T engine
Apparently these engines are used in some Hitatchi forklifts and construction equipment.
Might want to check with an industrial parts supplier.
Also, there are several Isuzu diesel engines on ebay.

Re: Looking for an Isuzu 4bd1T engine
There are quite a few Isuzu motors on ebay but no 4bd1T motors and one 4bd2T in Florida for $4000 US which is way too much.
These are supposed to be really common easy to find and cheap motors... I think that day has passed.

Re: Looking for an Isuzu 4bd1T engine
The 4bd2T is actually easier to find in Canada than the 4BD1 and is the more modern engine and dimensionally identical. I think the trick in finding one is not to look for the engine but look for the vehicle as a lot of owners do not have a clue what motor is in their vehicle. I found mine by looking for someone who was wrecking a1989 - 1196 ISUZU NPR 5 ton cube van but actulally found the more common and identical GMC version and had a choice of two at the time. I paid C$1200 and lots of other parts were thrown in including the radiator (great fit in a land rover) You should also get the front cross member. I also wanted the exhaust brake flap valve and controller but someone got there before me. Parts for these vehicles are very inexpensive on E Bay USA. Ray

If all works out I should have my hot little hands on a nice low mileage 4bd1t by this time tomorrow.

Re: Looking for an Isuzu 4bd1T engine
I'm committed to a new project now...
Yesterday I did a 1300 km round trip to Idaho and back and now there is an Isuzu 4bd1t with a KLR performance turbo and an LT95 all with about 50000 original miles in the back of my 2500HD. These came out of an ex military Australian Perentie 6x6.
I was trying to find a 4bd1t and use an NV4500 transmission but because this is a proper factory rover installed version of the 4bd1t and it has it's original LT95.
I was going to use Ray Wood's NV4500 conversion, I might still, but right now I'm considering using the LT95. The LT95 is set up for a front mount PTO winch and it has the drive output for a third rear axle should I ever go nuts and want to build a 6x6 rover ;)
I think this motor will put out around 150 hp and 300 ft/lbs torque with the aftermarket KLR turbo system but even stock it should be about 130 hp and 250 ft/lbs which combined with an all gear driven timing/injection train, simple inline 4 4 cylinder layout etc... make it, perhaps, the best motor that has ever been fitted to a land rover.
Really looking forward to getting this one on the road :)
