Windscreen sealant
Putting new glass in the windscreen for my 88 , the supplier sent a rubber strip that is approx 1/2 in width for sealing the glass , I don't want leaks should I be using some kind of sealant? Or will this strip work ?

Re: Windscreen sealant
Not sure what they sent you. The original sealer was dum dum but this is NLA. I got a similar product to dum dum from eastwood in the states, comes in thin strips. The key is to put some small wooden spacers under the glass to it doesn’t slide down when the seal is firming up. Also not to over tighten the glass retainers. Lastly if the frame has been regalvanised it’s best to go round the inside to see there are no lumps that might break the glass once installed. The series 2 club forum gives good advice for fitting and what you might need. Good luck

Hi Troy
When I did the dormobiles new glass I used the strips like in the link listed below ( they are available in 2 different thicknesses) from lordco. The dum dum strips go to the outside and the rubber strips supplied by the glass company go on the inside. Both are trimmed off with a new sharp single edge razor blade when all the tiny little screws have been installed and you are happy with how it is sitting.
It is not that hard of a job but it takes a bit of patience.
Yes make sure no lumps off galzonizing are in contact with the new glass or it will crack the glass when you hit your first big bump.
To any body else doing this job any local glass company can cut you the proper legal safe flat windshield glass for about $30.00 per side for a series vehicle.
