ROTO FLEX

#1 Post by 96whitedisco » Mon Mar 06, 2006 10:14 am

I was on the island Hiway this weekend and noticed a bad vibration from below, the tires are new and balance the steering wheel had no vibration.
Im thinking its my Roto Flex coupler?

Has anyone out there replaced theres?
Has anyone done the upgrade and removed the Roto flex and put a longer drive shaft with the new longer unjoint?

Cheers

I think you explained the problem when you said you were on --"the Island Highway----".

Nuff said.

I have the Rotoflex on my 99 Disco. I was told over a year ago it was a bit worn, but its quite a ways down the list for replacement. I have, however been watching for a used Disco 1 rear driveshaft without the rotoflex, so far, without success.

Suffice it to say, mine does not create any vibration, although its visibly worn. Might want to look at a few other things. Tied rod ends, for example... Often you won't feel it in the steering even if its the front axle, due to the cushioning that the power steering provides.

Will replace this weekend.

looked at the Roto Flex today and it had a crack in it about a 1/4 of an inch.
Went straight to MCL got the new one, took me about 1 hour to install, didnt evan need to jack the Disco up.
The repairs on the Disco are so easy, got to love Land Rover.

Cheers
