need help- ideas- advice
I 've been trying to remove the steering relay from the frame of the 88"
but no go its in there but good, been soaking it with moovit and have a bottle jack up underneath the steering relay tring to push it up and out but it wouldn't budge.
would like to get it out as I plan on galvinizing the frame
anybody got any ideas?

Mine came out relatively easily and I was suprised to find that there is lots of space for it. It is NOT a force fit. Dirt and grunge pack in the space around the relay and wedge it into place. Loose the grunge and it will slip in and out and you'll think it a sloppy fit. The only designed tight area is the bottom half or three quarters on an inch.
I'd try an air lance from the bottom with the locater plate removed and again from the top. Water might flush some debris out and try the air again. Then it is a case of wiggle and lift.

Greg, you are one of the lucky ones. Mine, on the frame I picked up last year, was impossible to remove. The fellow I purchased the frame from had fought it till he gave up, then Peter Tebbutt and I attacked it by putting the front of the frame in a 20 ton press and all we accomplished was to start bending the frame.
Bernie, if you can't get it out, I would recommend pulling the guts, (carefully, read the manual first, or let me know if you need the detailed instructions) screwing some screws into the thread holes and galvanizing it in-situ. Then you would have to sand out the galvanizing from the machined beveled surface that the split fibre bushings sit on and reassemble it.
Reassembly is always interesting. See my description here. Was a fun task, let me tell you!
