Founders Day 2021?

#1 Post by seatosky » Sat Jul 17, 2021 8:07 am

We’ve known for two months that events would be allowed by now, so is there any plan to hold a late-summer or even early autumn Founders Day?

I feel like there’s lots of events going on all over the world and folks in B.C./Canada, despite also being allowed, are just not taking the initiative to get some fun things going… it would be nice to hear the club wants to buck that trend!!

I think the give aways from earlier this year were in lieu of Founders Day. Plus there are still lots of people without their 2nd dose. (Like nearly everyone under 40).

Yes, I can confirm there will not be a Founders Day 2021.

Typically this kind of event starts in the organizing phase 6 months before the date including venue booking, Insurance, food venders etc ... etc ...
Currently our normal venue in Chilliwack is not even taking event bookings for 2021
Also we like to include our US friends south of the border who currently can not attend.

We will start planning for Founders Day 2022 which will be here before we know it ....
Until then, we are still gathering for outdoor off road adventures and hope to get back to the one day Club Social Gatherings soon,

cheers
Andy

I would have like to see some initiative from the club on organizing our flagship event, but Andy has cleared that up.

This conversation is not about doses and who has them or when.

Well you are welcome to volunteer to be on the committee and assist with organizing the 2022 event. The club always needs members with “initiative”.

So I am guessing 2022 is also not going to happen? Would we have heard something by now?

Our usual venue the Heritage Park was just starting to take bookings again after Covid-19 when it suddenly became the emergency center for livestock rescue during all the Sumas flooding out in the Fraser Valley. Now that that's over I have reached out to them for possible 2022 dates .....

so yes, maybe, probably ... we'll see .... stand by
