Defender (MY01) ball joint tie rod end boots
Hi All,
I am looking for 4 tie rod end\ Ball joint boots.
Trying to get some work completed before the next trip coming up and have found my boots are ripped and want to replace while I have it apart.
Tried Rocky mountain but Jeremy only has series boots.
Thx
Paul

If they are torn, you should replace the tie rod ends. They will have been contaminated.

Probably best to replace the tie rod ends. Try Rock Auto...I think they do them (they have a part number search feature)...quick delivery and cheap...otherwise a UK vendor like Paddocks or LRParts.netpaulg_d130 wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 10:49 am Hi All,

Thanks Guys, the rod ends dont need to be replaced, boots were a casualty during the removal, so shouldnt be contaminated.
For reference the part number I have found is 214649 but I have found conflicting info as to whether these will work on a defender or just series trucks.
These are what Jeremy has in stock so I may grab a few to test as well.
Nick, id be interested in the collection let me know what you would like for it, ill pm you my number and you can text me.
thx

The boots are brand specific. You can’t use generic ones. They are different for every brand of tie rod end. Unless you know the brand, you will have no luck.
If you damaged the boots, you are using the wrong technique to remove. You should not touch the boots.
New tie rod ends are cheap.

Re: Defender (MY01) ball joint tie rod end boots
they seem to sell boots only specified by year\series, I would expect all the ball joints to be made to a certain specification so the boots should be fairly universal for a specific ball joint part number, excluding heavy duty or aftermarket derivatives.

The way the forum s/w message system works is to show the message in your outbox until the recipient actually reads it. However, they will have been notified by the system that a message is waiting.paulg_d130 wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:02 am Nick I tried to send you PM but it doenst look like the site is sending it, can you txt or call me at six O 4 970 three 5 three 4
