Air conditioning removal

#1 Post by TylerN » Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:18 am

My 97 disco originally had AC when it was a V8, now that it’s a 300tdi I don’t have the pump, and none of the piping is connected/is empty.

I still have the AC rad and fans in front of the motor radiator. I’m thinking of removing this assembly with an eye on helping keep things cooler with less restricted airflow.

Solid plan? Any issues with doing this? Should I make up brackets to refit the electric fans and wire the switch to kick them on when it’s hot out or I’m moving slowly?

Good idea, there is also usually lots of debris between the A/C condenser and the rad. Not totally neccesary to have the electric fans, as long as you have a good viscous on your engine fan, but I would fit atleast 1 with an auto switch and a manual override. Keep that V8 cool.

I'll take the piping if you do remove it :)

Sounds good! I’ll let you know when it’s out.
