I can get a very good price on some BFG Mud Terrains, but the narrowest width they come in is 10.5 inch (33 X 10.5 R15). Will this fit on a Series 2A 88, 15 inch rims? Is the problem that the tires will contact the body, or is it handling/steering issues? Thanks for any info, Ken

I ran thoughs tires(33x10.5R15 BFG) on aftermarket 15" rims, which increased the track by about 3", still cleared the body work. You may want to think about wheels with more offset or wheel spacers to gain back the loss in turing circle.

I also had a set of 33x9.50R15 on the stock landrover 88 - 15" wheel. Seemed ok, but you'll have to run tubes with the stock rims.

They are a big tire and I don't think I would run them again on a series truck as they put so much strain on the steering gear and it's mount at the firewall.

Your best bet is get 235/85R16(approx. 32x9.5) and some offset 16" wheels.

Ken,

Last year I took Don's advice and put some BFG MT's 235/85 - 16's on my offset rims and the combination is absolutely fabulous. I bought the tires at Costco for around $200 each.

These are land rovers not ford pickups.

Just do it!

Thanks guys for your replies. I'm still a bit ignorant about rims...my rims are stock 15". How do the offset rims differ? Ken

Hi Ken,

Wheel offset is the distance between the face which bolts to the hub and the centerline of the wheel. Generally when people talk about more offset they mean the distance between the outside flange of the wheel and the face which bolts to the hub. More "offset" would therefore mean the outside edge of the wheel sits further out from the center of the vehicle.

This is all new to me so I appreciate all that is contributed to this forum.
My problem is that I've nicely cleaned up my stock 15" rims (sandblasted and powdercoated), so I want to find tires that work with those rims. Given those rims...will the 33X 10.5 R15 tires physically fit the 88, or do I have to go to a 32X 9.5R15 (since 33X9.5 R15 are not available)? Thanks for all of your suggestions, Ken.

Hi,

I would go with the 32x9.5x15, just remember you have to use tubes.

I ran a heavy duty Michelin truck tubes with a stubbie valve, never had any problems with this set-up.
