Decoding Vin #
We have a 1966 109" Series11A with VIN 25414723C In all my searching I can not find correct info on that. Could someone steer me where to look. With thanks from Atlin, BC

Hi that is not a VIN it is a serial number, your series truck pre-dates VIN 's.
1962 - 1979
An eight digit chassis numbering system with suffix letters
The first, second, and third digits indicate the model and specification.
241-258,260-324 = Series IIA 88" & 109"
325-339 = Series IIB (110 Inch Forward Control)
340-354 = Series IIA 109"
5424 = Series IIA 88 Station Wagon (US Model) 259, 901-950 = Series III
951-955 & 895 = Lightweight
956-965 = 101 Inch Forward Control
355, 356, 358 = Range Rover
The remaining five digits starting with 00001 indicate the serial number.
The suffix letter indicates design modifications.
Note: The year, or model-year of manufacture have no identification number.

Thank you all.... rgallant, mepham55 and red90 My husband Bry can take apart anything and put it together but he knows nothing about computer.... so here I am ... an old duck trying to figure out to buy him a complete engine gasket set, rings and valu guides. Up here in Atlin last yr we had several lower mainland LandRovers stop and come into our yard to look at our old girl 66. They told us about joining this group. So glad we did. A Big thank you. Where do I shop for the above mentioned???? Thanks from Vikki and Bryan

"GOOD" aftermarket/reliable Land Rover "CRITICAL" components are getting difficult to source.....especially for Series 1 and 2.
We all expect a new aftermarket part to be as good as the original.....they are not.
Try Turner Engineering or ACR (Automotive Component Restoration)...both in UK.
You could also try another club member in Kitimat who is an absolute "WIZARD" at sourcing OEM parts.
I'll check with him.

Thank you Stuart. I got Bry to set down and look thru what Turner Eng UK had available. It was a big Help. Does anyone know the shipping time frame from UK to BC. Is it like 3 to 4 months? Thanks Vikki

I often order parts from the UK. It can be as quick as 3 days. I don’t think it’s ever taken 2 weeks. Unless you are ordering large or heavy parts it isn’t terribly expensive.

Re-Coring Radiator for 1966 Series 11
We have been quoted $700. to re core the Radiator in our old 1966 Series !!. He said he had to order the new core and shipping would be a far part. We live up near Whitehorse Yukon. anyone have anything to add. Thanks

You can fit a series 3 radiator in place of your old rad. You will also need the series three top and bottom hoses if you go this route.

$700 is about the write price to get a rad recored these days. We have 2 radiator shops left on the Island and neither one of them will do repairs only total rebuilds.
If your doing a rivet counter restoration and want the rover to stay as it was built with the old flat top rad you will have to get it recored those types are no longer available new (As far as I know), but as Matt said you can use a series 3 rad for probably 1/2 the price complete with new hoses.

When I needed to replace my 2A radiator I had it recored locally as everything I read about the available rads said they were garbage. I think mine was more like $800.
