Scrap V8 y-pipe
Looking a Rover V8 y-pipe in any condition. I just need to use it to test fit against my engine swap and determine how close it gets me. I know I'll have to cut off and replace the manifold flange of whatever I end up using. I'd prefer not to go through a full custom exhaust and not sure I want to take the chance of ordering a new one in hopes of it being usable.
Cheaper is better, and I'm quite happy to return the cats after test fitting if that is a concern.
I'm located in Victoria BC.

Call Tony in Duncan. I know he has some.

I think I talked to Tony on FB marketplace. He cuts the cats out which makes them not very useful for test fitting unfortunately.

I don’t think you’ll find one with cats for cheap. The Cats are worth a fair amount, which is why thieves target them.

Yeah I was hoping to catch someone before they part out, even if I can borrow them... I just don't want to blow a grand on something that won't work out.

I've got one from a '98 D1. Cats were cut out. It's intact from the downstream O2 to the muffler. It's in Courtenay. If that's of any use to you let me know. I can't figure out how to attach a photo.

Re: Scrap V8 y-pipe
That would still help. I don't suppose you still have the cats to take a measurement with?
Or if it's still in the truck I could take measurements to the exhaust flange to get a ballpark idea of how far off it is

No but I can take measurements and photos of the cats in use on my '97.

Re: Scrap V8 y-pipe
I could probably get by with just a measurement from a good landmark on the frame to where the exhaust flanges connect to the engine. Maybe in relation to the transfer case mounting holes? That would give me an idea of how close the stock y pipes are to working. I know I'll have to cut off the flanges anyway as I'm running a GM engine.

The manifold to Y pipe gasket surface, centre of the forward most of the three holes to the centre of the engine mount is 6 3/4" measured with the tape measure parallel to the block/oil pan joint (both planes). I measured the driver's side.

Re: Scrap V8 y-pipe
unfortunately, I don't have the stock engine mounts in place. I may be able to see where the stock mount was cut off though... I'll check. Do you know if the drivers and passengers' side exhaust flange is roughly the same location front to back? Very hard to tell from pictures and diagrams but it looks like the passenger's side is further forward.

Passenger side is farther forward and higher.RamblerRob wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2024 8:52 am Do you know if the drivers and passengers' side exhaust flange is roughly the same location front to back? Very hard to tell from pictures and diagrams but it looks like the passenger's side is further forward.

good to know, that's what it looked like, but I wasn't sure if it was actual or just due to camera angle on the pics
