Hi gang
I’m having a terrible time trying to strip the 3 layers of paint off an old 88”tub. In places it’s so thick, it’s like it was put on with a spatula. I’ve got a gallon of “aircraft” paint stripper, but it hardly lifts any of the paint.
I was wondering about Vapor Blasting or other options. Any and all recommendations appreciated.

I found that these worked quite well for larger areas (on an angle grinder):

..and these worked well for smaller/tighter areas (on an angled die grinder):
https://www.amazon.ca/3M-Abrasive-405-0 ... 002P55TX6/
Both are 3M products - knockoffs seemed fine for the top product, but the one knockoff I tried of the bottom product didn't work as well

For something soft like aluminum O think walnut she'll blasting is recommended. What is the major ingredient of your stripper? Methylene chloride is the typical stripper but I don't think this will touch polyurethane paint. Don't know offhand what might Loosen that if that is what someone used.bsa_m21 wrote:Hi gang

I wondered about that, but was leery of having to buy the expensive sander for a one use task. If you have one, any chance I could borrow/rent it from you?

Re: Stripping paint off series tub
I had at least 3 layers of paint on every part of my series one and I was told that having the parts blasted would damage the Birmabright. I checked several brands of aircraft paint stripper and they all claim to remove polyurethane if that is in fact what you are dealing with. It was a lot of work but after getting all the paint of mine , I could still see the slight yellow colour of the birmabright. Just FYI
