Brits on the Beach Sunday July 13th 2025
Time to get out the wash bucket and give the Ole Rover a clean up. (I know I know it ruins the patina).
Brits on the Beach is this coming Sunday July 13th in Beautiful downtown Ladysmith...... Well actually its on the beach East of downtown.
I have the day off work and am planning to attend, the weather girl says hot and dry (she's never wrong). :?
Ill be leaving my place at 8:00am for a nice slow (landrover remember) drive via the back roads up to the show.
Join in if you want to, remember safety in numbers.
Talk soon Victor

Howdy Robin
Still waiting............... Sorry in all seriousness we heard about your mechanical difficulties. Hope you got them sorted out. Land rovers hardly ever break down.
It was a good event maybe 10-12 rovers of all descriptions.
We should do a British pub event soon, likely the Crow and gate up in beautiful downtown cedar? Anybody interested?

The Series One shut down in Duncan Sunday morning and refused to run again so had to have it towed home but when I got home from work on Monday I went out and fired it up. Ran fine so still trying to figure that one out. We are in for the Crow And Gate but it will probably be a Defender trip. Cheers Robin

Glad its running again anyway, you'll figure it out.
There is a new pub-restaurant-coffee shop just past Parksville near French creek Marina called the 356 its mostly German car themed but the owner has a or had a Defender.
They do a land rover coffee-lunch meet about every 4th Saturday. its do again but I can find no real info about it.
I would check that out if it happens again, Robs been to it as has Dave from Parksville.
We shall also do a Crow and Gate lunch one of theses days.
Do you ever get any weekdays off?

Check the fuel pump. I had an similar issue with my 80”. No matter what I checked, it all seemed fine, until it wasn’t. Turns out the fuel pump would work when cool, but eventually die while hot. Worked fine once cool. Rebuild made no difference. Ended up putting a small electric pump by the tank, gutting the bulkhead pump and leaving it in place with dummy wires. :bounce: Never had an issue afterwards.

Hi Martin, The fuel pump is suspect as this has happened before only when hot but we did crack the fuel line and fuel was spraying out. Checked spark and we had plugs firing right to the point the engine stopped so not suspecting an ignition issue at this time. I do believe it to be a fuel problem , just trying to prove the problem before throwing parts at it, Thanks Martin, In answer to your question Victor , no I never have weekdays off. Cheers Robin

Hi Robin
Is it a mechanical fuel pump on the side of the block?
If it is add an electric one down low near the tank. If you get a suck through version the mechanical pump will still do most of the work, In hot weather the mechanical ones vapor lock.
Especially after being shut off after a drive and running into the store, you come back drive 30 feet and that's it the float bowl is now dry and the mechanical pump is vapor locked from the heat.
Turn the electric one on and things will work again lots of fuel pumping through the mechanical one then into the carb. I had to do this on the Dormy. (After trying 2 new mechanical ones)
Land rover themselves attempted to fix this issue on series 3s by added a phenolic block between the pump and the block, the pump was different as it had a longer actuating arm.

..sorry the s1 didn't make it out! vapor lock is a prime suspect, once in awhile it happens on a hot day, i just pop the bonnet, pump a few manual shots in with the lever and wait a bit 'til things cool...
