2026 Rally in the Valley May 22nd-24th
Looking forward to seeing you May 22nd to 24th for the 23rd annual Rally in the Valley! We hope to have a great turnout again. Make sure to book your ferry if you’re coming from the mainland.
Basecamp will be at 8957a Cranko Road, the home of Roy and Marg Lavigne in Chemainus BC. Most are familiar with this camp but for any newcomers here are the directions. Turn West at the corner of the Trans Canada highway and Mount Sicker Road (Red Rooster gas bar and Russel’s Farm Market) go past the market staying on Mount Sicker Road it turns left. Follow Mount Sicker Road until you hit the T intersection of Mount Sicker Road and Cranko Road (Watch for the wind sock in the field) turn right on Cranko Road. The farm is on the right side a little ways down the road use the second driveway. Watch for the Land Rover direction signs, follow the signs. If you have not arrived in a British vehicle you will notice a parking sign marked OTHER that’s where you will park your non British vehicle.
Schedule
Friday May 22nd - Arrive anytime after 2:00 pm. Camping is provided in the field and forest on the property and a porta-potty is provided as well. You have to fend for yourself tonight and we will be having a campfire if allowed. Bring some muscles as we may have to split a bit of firewood!
Saturday May 23rd - Drivers meeting at 9:15 am with departure for 9:30-9:45 am.
The non scratch run should be a good one!
It should take approximately 5 hours and we should be back to the tarmac about 3:00 to 3:30.
Saturday night dinner is once again Pot-Luck. Please bring enough to share. Side dishes are suggested as a main course and dessert are provided. We may be able to drive up Mt. Prevost for those interested to see a panoramic view of the valley.
Sunday May 24th - Pancake breakfast at 8:30 am. Pancakes, sausage, farm fresh eggs and drinks will be provided, if you'd like to contribute anything you are more than welcome to. Afterwards we are doing a scratch run near Mt. Prevost. Nothing any Land Rover couldn't handle!! We plan to be out of the bush no later than 4:00 pm.
Some frequently asked questions.
Cost? Free all 3 fun filled days.
Is there a petrol station nearby? Yes petrol, diesel, propane, groceries and deli goods at the Red Rooster and Russel Farm markets. Top your tanks and your bellies for the Saturday drive.
Can I bring my non-British vehicle? Yes parking will be available for non-British Vehicles.
Can I bring my non-British vehicle on the drive? NO but there is always a spare seat available in somebody’s rover just ask. Sorry this is a Land Rover event.
This event is pet friendly. But they must be leashed!
Some other things to bring. Lawn chairs, portable tent, sun lotion or rain gear, extra clothes maybe a bathing suit the Chemainus river is very close to the farm. A dip may be nice after a long dusty day on the trail. A radio of some sort ham, cb, or frs. Camera and a lunch for the Saturday drive.
The ham frequency we use is 146.460
As we are having this event in May, it could rain!! Bring appropriate gear to survive any weather!
Check back here on the island sections for updates. We would like to know how many are coming so please reply here if possible.
Please RSVP on the Island Section of the Forum. We need to know if you're coming, unless you want to make your own breakfast.
If you have any questions feel free to post them or give us a call at 778-678-7090.

Im 90 percent sure im going and im also from Victoria, would be sweet to get a few of us to all drive up together think best place for us to meet would be the shell at the base of the hat as most places might be easy to get split up on the way.

Well we had a very successful pre-scooting run yesterday for the official No-Scratch run which will take place on Saturday May 23rd, its going to be a good-un best views I've seen yet. Lets just hope the roads will be open 2.5 weeks from now, seems BC has initiated a campfire ban starting the Thursday for the entire Island.
Why is this important? Well sometimes this is followed by all the backcountry roads being shut down on the island.
So keep your fingers crossed that does not happen.
Mr. president (aka) Andy can you please bring along the clubs portable propane campfire ring? Its still enjoyable and almost lifelike at times.
Only 17 more sleeps to go till the big event. This event goes rain or shine. Tell your friends the more the merrier.
Talk soon Victor

I will be making my first return to the scene of the "incident"! If I look triggered just pass me a beer and keep me away from any water features as I passed the water wings along to Bill.

Glad your coming back, we have missed you. The Rally just was not the same without you.
Are you taking the 10:15 ferry from Tsawwassen on the Friday with the rest of the group................... or just driving "straight over" on your own?
Talk soon Victor
Only 15 more sleeps to go. I cant wait.

At this point it looks like the mainlanders are outnumbering us Islanders.
So who else from the island is planning to attend?
Speak up now or as Colin said in the original post you shall go hungry on Sunday morning, its a truly amazing breakfast, featuring real farm fresh food, farm eggs (likely layed that very morning), fresh piping hot coffee, cream straight from the cow, home made sausages, and Landrover shaped pancakes to die for, absolutely delicious.
We need a people count to order enough food.
Its the second biggest landrover event in BC (right behind founders day) and the biggest on the Island. Tell your friends, if you have any (I know I know its hard to have friends when all you talk about is land rovers) but try. Every one is welcome.
You do not have to be Rover Lander card carrying member to attend, it is open to any Land rover owner or wanna be owner.

I will be coming from Chilliwack. Booked on the 10.15 am Twassassen ferry (same the rest of the mainland crew). I am planning to head out to Victoria on Sunday to see my son who is at UVic. It has been a couple of years since I last went to the Rally. I am looking forward to the event.
