Are there any honest sellers in the UK?

Just seems to me that at least half or more of the engines and gear boxes that I've seen imported from the UK are scrap. Do we have sucker written on us?

Yeh, great topic for discussion. There appears to be plenty of unscrupulous operators in Blighty :( If you (or your designate) are not on the ground closely inspecting your purchase and then personally loading it into the container without taking your eyes off it, it seems like you have a better than 50% chance of being screwed. I guess they think that we're just naive trusting purchasers from across the ocean in another legal jurisdiction, ooh :? ......I guess we are. It's kind of a shame but I would not trust any used parts or truck suppliers working from that side of the pond. I know the deals sometimes look great but obviously there is a hidden price to be paid by the unwary. Face it guys and gals, if your not prepared to be there yourself or work with a reputable established agent you know you can trust, you're throwing good money down the tube. I don't represent local importers or shops and I don't appreciate those that are opportunistically gouging us over here either. There seems to be some importers who are getting stupid money for trucks that are just tarted up cast-offs from the British wholesale market, or worse they are pieced together stolen bits laundered by being sent overseas. This crap is not doing anything for the credibility of the Marque, or for the legitimate consciencous businesses bringing in trucks and parts. I feel sorry for those of you that have been victimized by these crooks but the old maxim still holds true when it comes to buying sight unseen: If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Here's a not so old maxim applicable to overpriced "pretty" trucks recently imported: You can never be sure of the quality until you lift up its skirt and check out its wedding tackle.
PS I haven't mentioned any names and don't recommend follow-up posts do either, I don't think our liability insurance will cover any resulting law suits :spinning:

Damn wedding tackle gets pretty expensive when you go to overhaul the stuff. Not to mention the trouble that ensues when your topping up your fluids. I would love to run away with your analogy Bill but just wouldn't be prudent. Good points though - "Support your local reputable dealer"
