2.5 NA diesel in a Range Rover

#1 Post by rezdiver » Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:26 pm

anyone know if a rover 2.5 NA diesel will bolt into a Range Rover Classic easily? it will be going onto an LT77/LT230 box.

I do understand some say it is underpowered in this truck but i am not worried about that at this point.

what parts are needed for the conversion from a 3.5 carburated V8 ? eg: engine mounts, bell housing, exhaust, fuel tank, etc...

also what is the weight difference between the engines?

thanks,
Reza

The gearbox is different. Different mainshaft, bellhousing, gear ratios, etc. And, of course, it would be really slow. You really would need an LT77 or R380 from a TDI Discovery.

thanks, anymore info would be greatly appreciated.

is there a site that shows the different LT77 gear ratios?

so even with the proper bellhousing my LT77 would not work?

The input shafts are a different length.
