Man pinned

A man working on his Land Rover on Bruce Gordon Place in Central Saanich was injured when the truck slipped off its jack, pinning the 55-year-old man between the Land Rover and a Suzuki parked just behind it. The man was saved from serious injury by a hitch mounted on the bumper of the Land Rover which kept the two vehicles slightly apart. He suffered bruising on his legs, but no broken bones. He was checked by an ambulance crew, but declined to be taken to hospital.

Definately something to be wary of everytime you jack up your truck. I remember a few years back when Rod Gland did a similar thing and almost dropped the rear axle on his foot. Always chock the wheels of the vehicle still on the ground to prevent rolling.

Not me! I'm not sure who that would be.

You have to remember that when there is a drive shaft mounted park brake, it works through the differential and will allow one wheel to turn while one wheel stays locked. (Unless it's locked in 4WD.) The wheel in the air, would be the locked one. If there was only one jack or jack stand in use, there is nothing stopping the rest of the vehicle from rolling away if it's bumped.

Weren't me. Wonder if it was Barry T. of Rover Antics (the LED llights). He lives in that area. Couldn't do a Canada411... no results.

Barry,

Glad you are as OK as can be and that there will be no long term effects.

Sounds like you need to get away and relax; wind down from the trauma of the situation. I would recommend you drive up to Duncan on June 9th to enjoy a relaxing day at the Land Rover get together (Laager). It is at the Sutfin farm as usual.
