Just posting about the converter that I used to do this (as you probably know, you can’t just change the plug, because Canadian trailers use the same lights for more than one function)
I fitted a Hopkins 46365 Converter Kit. This version is self resetting if you get a short and protects the towing vehicle’s electrics/fuses as it has its own fused feed from the battery - the cheaper ones don’t...
Worked well and easy to fit. Was $70.
Also got a 4-pin flat tester from Amazon for about $4 delivered, which was very useful as my boat trailer and Defender aren’t in the same city 😂
