You don't have the pinch bolt in still do you? Check the splines to make sure that they are not damaged in some way. It should go on snug but not require too much effort. You could always try and wedge somethingin the opening where the pinch bolt goes to spread it a little as you put it on but make sure that whatever you use will not interfere with the splines during the install.
