Lots of Rovers

#1 Post by shawn doherty » Sat Dec 31, 2005 11:20 am

Just got back from Costa Rica (unfortunetly) I saw hundreds of rovers mostly series 111 88 diesels but many new 110 and 90s as well and saw many old landcrusers . Drove all over the country in a diesel landcruser because I could not find a land Rover to rent. This is a landrover paradise I rarely got above 3 gear. I think a trip down here with the 109 is in the future sometime. Navigation was a bit interesting , but the people are great, felt as safe as in BC. We had no reservations and no plans just a good map with long. and lat. and a handheld GPS.

Sorry Morgan but I'm only 5' 4" and you would never fit in my truck without me taking out my seat. ( I have it set up a little higher than stock)

You should have less problem with a series I than a series II if you're 6'4". the seat box was lower in the series I and the windshield was about 3 inches higher. I am 6'2" and find the top of the windshield a wee bit low in my IIa. I've considered several times replacing the windshield with one from a Defender or even a Series I as both are taler than that used in a II, IIa or III.

As far as bulkhead goes, you might want to contact Nakedbarra (Andrew Philips) up the thread a bit as he has a hybrid in a basket he is willing to sell complete or in parts, which includes a possibly usable bulkhead.

Mint Series I bulkhead? Do you really want to use a mint bulkhead for a hybrid project? I'd rather leave the mint ones for the guys doing restorations and take a so-so one and cut/chop/customize it to your needs.
