The Rover Landers are famous again! Or at least two of us are! Well- maybe not famous but Victor and I did get our pictures featured on the home page of the Island Rock Crawlers Website. www.can4x4.com/irc/

Victor gave me a phone call Saturday night about the Island Rock Crawlers New Years snow run. My 109 is still under repair and the weather wasn't right to take out Victors, he has summer tires as well. Now, no smart-aleck remarks about the weather not being right. Have you seen Victors Land Rover? It was one of the featured vehicles on the TV show 'My Favorite Car' last year. I wouldn't want him to take a show-piece like that up the mountain on a snow run and you probably wouldn't either.
Anyway, back to the story, the drive was the next morning. Victor suggested we just show up at the meeting place and hitch rides. That would work for me, but then I thought of my son David, who just happens to have a couple of capable 4WD's sitting in his driveway. I gave him a call and we arranged to borrow his Jeep Wagoneer, complete with him as a chauffeur. We would just have to feed him and fuel up the Jeep.
Sunday morning at 8:30 we were loading up food and warm cloths into the Jeep. At 9 we met the rest of the group at the muster site. There were about 20 vehicles in total, most makes were represented as can be seen in the photos on the IRC Website. We made an orderly convoy to the top of M't Brenton to Holyoak Lake and played in the snow. A BBQ apeared and hambergers, hotdogs, chips and cocoa were provided. (Thanks IRC's)
Several of the group headed a bit farther up the mountain for deeper snow. We had to get back home so departed at about 1 PM. David and his friend Natasha, Victor and I all had an enjoyable time despite not getting stuck in the snow. Victor and I are on the feature photo, the two on the right. Between the four of us we are in several of the photos. There are more photos in the IRC Forum posting about the Annual New Years snow run.
