Hi everyone, I am in the process of getting a 2.5 na ready to put into my 109 pickup. I was wondering if anyone had any photos of the engine bay specifically the engine mounts and throttle linkage they used among a few other things. It seem the common thing to do is take the mount off of the 2.25 gas and weld it to the right-hand side frame rail.
Is there a way to keep the battery inside the engine bay?
What have people used for throttle linkages? I am trying to avoid cutting any holes in the firewall in case any future owner wants to return this truck to a 2.25 gas
Has anyone managed to run the Series dual gauge? What sort of adaptor did you use for the temperature probe and oil line?

Sorry no pics but the left hand engine mount can be used but the right had one and battery interfere with the injection pump/timing casing in some way and needs to be modified. Or you can use the timing casing from a Freight Rover and this puts the injection pump higher up and spares the right hand mount.

I've also seen it done by fitting a 2.25 injection pump and timing casing.

Glencoyne in the UK did a series (ha) on converting an S3 to a 200tdi minus the turbo. Lots of useful tidbits in there, I believe he just rigs a pushrod on a ball joint for the throttle:

Tips on making the bell housing work, battery relo, glow plugs, stop solenoid, etc.

Re: 2.5 NA into a Series 2 109
On my 88 I used a series 3 diesel throttle cable , made a bracket to hold the cable on the passenger side of the bulkhead and used the original 2a throttle linkage and hooked the cable to the pass side of the throttle assy , still retaining use of the hand throttle . The pass side motor mount was off the 2a 2.25 petrol motor , I cut the engine mount changed the angle and used that with the original frame mount as it was a galvy chassis . I cut a small portion of the battery tray to fit the timing cover but kept the battery under the bonnet . Iam going to be putting a 2.5 in my 109 in the next month or so and plan on doing the same thing for it .
