Noise

Ok this sounds stupid but I have to ask , I put a 2.5 n/a in my 109 , , I put a 2.25 diesel intake on it that runs to the the original oil bath air cleaner which I modified for the snorkel that I built . At first I thought the motor had a bad intake valve but after driving it for awhile now the motor runs really good and has good powerful a 2.5 that is , but Iam hearing engine noise out the snorkel . Iam wondering if it is because of the oil bath air cleaner and not a filter style air cleaner . Or maybe because it doesn’t have a turbo on it , But whether the motor is idiling or driving down the road I can hear the engine out the snorkel , it’s actually quite loud if Iam driving down the road , loud enough so I can hear it while driving . Anyone ever experience this . Troy

Hi Troy, on my 300tdi defender 110 I can hear the engine sucking through the snorkel pretty good sometimes. To me it’s not an issue since it’s not that noisy.

Maybe a K&n filter might help diagnose the issue?

Maybe I need a 300tdi lol , it’s more of a engine exhaust sound for lack of a better term . At first I thought maybe a couple bad intake valves but the thing doesn’t have a Miss and runs good , but if you pull the hose off the oil bath there is nothing there but suction while the thing is running , weird .
