In trying to remove the starter to clean connections, I need to remove the heat shield, on my ‘97 D1 gas Disco. The two little bolts that fasten the heat shield are not only a real pain to get at, but I think they are frozen. After several try’s and lubricant sprays, I am having no luck here, and tempted to cut the damn thing off. Any ideas? Thanks. That being said, the first $3.5k can take her.

Re: Starter heat shield
After finally getting the heat shield off via a bolt that goes through the engine mount support, and O2 sensor, the starter is shot. Enter a reman Bosch unit. Nice smooth starting.
