rebuilding a CB type master cylinder..

#1 Post by ryancr500 » Mon Apr 17, 2023 8:56 am

I need to rebuild a CB type master cylinder in place on a series 1 80". I don't want to remove it as the brake lines could be problematic. Does anyone know the size of the gigantic nut on the back of the Master cylinder? Have been looking online but can't find the size... its big

Hi Ryan,

I believe its 1-1/16" Whitworth. You may find a regular socket 1-3/16" will fit (if you don't have Whitworth).
I will try my Whitworth socket on there to confirm and post again,

cheers
Andy

Thanks Andy, It seemed bigger than that! I think I tried a 30mm socket I had and it was too small.

Maybe you have a different earlier CB type?
Is it the 3 bolt flange?

Here is a photo of mine ... 1 1/16 Whitworth I believe would be around 30.5mm?
