Alan,

I've ended up with an R380B when I need an A type for my Defender. The B
trans is a never used 55A J box rebuilt by H.L. Smith in England. Has
bell
housing. Have you got a customer who wants to change his Disco to manual
transmission? I need to sell the B to get the A.

Cheers

I'm going to both, catching a ferry about noon on the 20th, back late
on the 21st I guess. Anyone else planning to attend? Anyone need a ride?

VE7AXQ, VE7AXQ, VE7AXQ, this is VA7IIA. CONGRATS!

So! Does AXQ mean "Ask you" (axe que?)? I'd call you on the radio but
I don't got one yet. I'll start shopping and maybe in a decade or two
I'll find what I need.

Merry Christmas, hope the worst of the storm missed you, we barely
got the wind chimes on the front porch to tingle. It sure hit down
around the Sooke Victoria area. Do you have customers down there that
were damaged?

Hey, Van Isle Rovers!-------- Everyone okay after the storm? Derek?
Steve? JP? everyone else? Let's get together over a nice hot
chocolate and discuss things. Anyone partial to a time or place?

Hi Jim

Yep... snow was a blast... had the good sense to pop the plates from my
Rabbit to the RRC on Friday night before the blizzard. Good thing too
as I had to venture out to Sooke on the Monday... one of the vehicles
that was actually "moving" on the roads. Saw some incredible stupid
people tricks that day... 2 idiots on on motorcycles trying to navigate
the icy covered Rocky Point Rd and another couple of suicial bicycle
riders in the deep in Colwood... good thing I had the grill guard on!
All was well in the snow until the roof on my portable garage collapsed
onto my RRC - no damage to the RRC but the glorified "tent" is history.

The snow and nasty weather has cought some of us off-guard... no time
to put up the XMas lighhts on the house (ooooops) but I did find room
on the RRC roofrack for a set of those LED xmas lights (gotta love
those 12 to 110 inverters Canadian Tire had on sale)... sure gets some
smiles going through Tim's drive thru! maybe we can decorate Kerry's
van to get him into the christmas spirit? (hmmm, think I just joined
you on the "naughty list")

Hi Mark,

that has most of the stuff just a bad frame. Phone Alan at 250 458-

Hi,

I just joined the list last week after buying a 74 3dr Range Rover,
with an 85 interior. I was
wondering if anyone on the list can point me to some good resources
for parts and body bits.
I've watched the car for several years, and was pleased to have a
chance to pick it up.

Thanks,

Mark

You will also want to know about Dunsfold/The Dunsfold collection of
LR's
http://www.dunsfold.com/

DUNSFOLD's SERIES ONEDERLAND
With over 150 tons of genuine Series One spare parts, is it any ONE-
DER that DUNSFOLD DLR holds probably the largest stock of genuine
Series One parts in the world. Many of these are the sought after "no
longer available" and "hard to get" items you thought you'd never find.
Look no further. It's all here at DUNSFOLD.

There isn't really a body to lift off. You just take things apart
till there aren't any parts left. The only sizable single item is the
rear box and that is best handled by two, but again, can be handled
by one.

Parts in Canada? www.wiseowlparts.com They ship all over the world
including Vancouver Island and they are a suporter of the annual Van
Isle Land Rover get together.

Non-dealer parts? Try the Rover Landers website at
www.roverlanders.bc.ca Website of the BC based Land Rover club.

Books? go to Chapters in Victoria and buy one of the Land Rover
magazines (doesn't matter which one) They all have a "Book" section
and there are books on restoration. Considered to be the invaluable
are the original shop and parts manuals refered to as "The Green
Bible". Also make sure you join the "Series One Club" http://
www.lrsoc.demon.co.uk/html/contents.htm
There is also the Series One Garage at http://groups.msn.com/
TheSeriesOneGarage/_whatsnew.msnw?pgmarket=en-us

Tips? I haven't run across such a collection of captive bolts in work
on other makes of vehicles. There are lots of bolts, sometimes in
pairs, that are attaced to an anchor strip. Once the nuts are undone,
the strip is removed complete with bolts. For example, across the
rear of the box at the rear cross member, there are mounting tabs
with a pair of bolts in each. In this case it is the nuts that are
captive on a strip but the same idea applies. Also, despite the
fittings being 50 years old, they still undo. Hats off to Mr.
Whitworth who just happened to have the right formula for angle of
thread etc.

How big of a crowd do you need to lift the body off? One will do but
having a helper would, well, help. Maybe I'm wrong about that! There
isn't really a body to lift off. You just take things apart till
there aren't any parts left. The only sizable single item is the rear
box and that is best handled by two, but again, can be handled by one.

know are:

-Where is the best place to source parts, preferably with in Canada?
-Are parts reasonable in price or like most other older cars. Or is
it like my TVR where as most parts are, but some really hurt! <G>
-Any hard to get parts, like trans gears or what not?
-Where can I get a good manual?
-How many people does it take to lift the body of? (Soft top model)
Is it heavy??
-How hard is it to take the body off, it's seems simple <G>
-Any good web sites on information such as mechanical or colour
guides?

Anything else you can think of that would help I'd greatly appreciate.
Thanks, Pat
Victoria

Yep! Holy Oak is open but I have a feeling it is only open to
snowmobiles. A drive somewhere would be nice and right now it is
challenging to just get across town, not because of the snow but
because of all those people trying to drive in the snow. We were out
for dinner on Mountain Road and there was 5 or 6 inches of snow when
we left last night, only about 1.5" at home. Almost 2" this morning
when we got up and the hostess from dinner phoned to say she had 12"
of snow in her driveway. I guess that's what you get when you live up
the side of a mountain out in the boonies. (I'm jealous.) Snowed all
day here and we now have about 4".

I don't know of anyone with an empty boat trailer right now. I do
know of a few people with full boat trailers. Why don't we have a Van
Isle LR coffee meeting and discuss it? I'm open to a date and time. I
would rather it wasn't Mondays.

Hi Everyone

Been a bit quiet around the island for awhile... so, anyone up for a
rover run one of these days? My RRC is in the shed right now but
could easily get a permit if we were deciding to play in the snow.
Greg, is HolyOak open at this time of the year?

I am also wondering if any of you in your travels knows the
whereabouts of a roadworthy (can use work) tandem axle boat
trailer... looking to puul stiff with the RRC and need a big boat
trailer (found a boat named Gypsy Rover... couldn't pass it up with
a name like that). If anyone knows of a trailer I would like to hear
about it.

I mentionned awhile back that I was thinking of chopping my RRC into
a pick-up. Lisa and I have a small business (selling fire fighting
equipment, pumps and such) and need a pick-up type vehicle... still
sort of reluctant to do bodywork with a sawzall so if anyone has a
good 109 or 4X4 pick-up for sale or trade for an RRC please let me
know.

Later... Rob
Ladysmith

Hey folks,

I just got my issue of Motor Trend Classic in the mail. You may want
to read the "Modern Times" column. It's about the author learning to
drive in a 1960 SII. Pretty neat stuff. Basically he says that, in
modern cars, he misses the connection with the machine that he
experienced in the Land Rover. It's a fun article, and he has nothing
but good to say about the LR.

Hi,

I'd be interested in coming by to see the truck but unfortunately
work nights all this week, until Sunday. Are you home at all during
the day? If not, call me to arrange a time to get together on
Sunday.

Thanks,
Steve Rogers
