I don't know about that brand, however, I usually purchase the cheapest one available at the local jobbers and it has worked well with the half dozen vehicles I've wired for trailer brakes. The model I get is the Draw Tite Activator.
The bigger challenge was purchasing a kit to tie the brake lights and signal lights together into a single curcuit for north american trailer wiring. I haven't seen a Land Rover kit, although the dealer might sell some sort of overpriced version. I believe some jobbers have a "universal kit", but when I was looking, I just bought a kit for a Nissan Pathfinder and cut off the ends and spliced into the Rover's light harness and all worked very well. Doing a search of the DrawTite site, I came up with this.
In my opinion, there is no need to have any fancier brake unit as it's just more to go wrong. I regularly pull a 2 horse trailer, and have pulled a dual axle car hauler a number of times as well, all across the province of BC.

hmmmmm
I fitted a brake controller into my 93 classic and don't remember having any trouble at all but can't remember the specifics.
