Those of you who were worried because you couldn't get hold of me for the last week, need not worry. Erica and I were simply on a road trip. In the Dakota, not the Land Rover; seems the 109 is still in about a million pieces.
We went to Castlegar to pick up books, papers and laundry from Jared, this week he is finishing this year's College and has too much dirty laundry to bring home than will fit in his Mazda. Somehow we put on just over 2000k with Mapquest pegging it at only 1500k. I guess going to Brian and Suzi Holmes for lunch (they're fine) and a tour to Creston, Trail, Rossland, Princeton, through to Spences Bridge and the Fraser Canyon, only added that extra 500K, maybe 600K because Mapquest includes the ferry as distance traveled. We had great weather and a terrific time. Brian & Suzi met Erica for the first time and we had a very enjoyable visit. We also stopped at Alan Simpson's for a brief hello and short tour through his new shop. I told Erica I have to build a shop just like it. She AGREED but pointed out that it would get used as an indoor riding arena rather than a shop. (I better reconsider.) Alan is looking great and the Land Rover restorations he has going on are superb. They appear to be nothing but the finest and anyone wanting the best in restorations couldn't go wrong with that kind of materials or workmanship. My hat's off to you Alan (Nicola Garage), and NO, I'm not getting paid to make this complement. My "restoration/repair job" will rank about a 1 out of 10 when put next to the examples we saw in his Alan's shop.
Five days went by very quickly and I wasn't on the Internet or Email the whole time. I learned it is possible to go that long "cold turkey" and still remain sane. (Well, maybe I wasn't sane to start with but I went that long without a computer anyway.)

Alan Simpson's Handywork
Hi Greg,
Nice to see you had a chance to see Alan's shop. His work is fabulous but as I own an Alan Simpson "Summer" I am somewhat prejudice.
For all you that won't be able to make it up to Alan's for the May 25-27th event he will be showing a totally restored Series IIa 109" Station wagon and a 88" rolling chassis at this years ABFM at Van Dusen May 19th.
He also going to show the old Austin 7 that has only been shown once at Pebble Beach where it got a second place.
And yes I am plugging the ABFM, so you should all get your butts in your Land Rovers and enter it. Let's have a real good showing this year and the uglier the better!!!!!
See you there...
