So,
I've decided that I love my Rover. After many, many vehicles I've got a thing for this one and I intend to sink money into her and never get it back.
The ol' 3.9 is starting to get a little tired so I'm thinking of a possible replacement. I can't decide if I want to step up to the bigger 4.6 (or performance rebuild a 3.9) or if I want to go to a Tdi whether it be Rover or otherwise.
It seems that throwing another v8 in would be much less expensive and I do have a hankering for HP but the Tdi's are fairly torquey and I've already got a 5 speed.
Advice or opinions are appreciated!

One option would be to rebuild the engine and then chip the ECU. The Tornado Chip will improve fuel economy dramatically and increase horse power/smooth your lumpy (over fueled) idle. We can also do a tailored chip to match any displacement increase or cam changes. You can read about us here.

I agree, I would just fix up the engine. It is normal for the timing chain to wear out/stretch, so a new cam and roller timing chain and a chip brings these engines to life.
Have you driven a TDI. It i s different and I would suggest driving one first. Note that you would need a new gearbox. The V8 and diesel gearboxes are different.
