Website Changes

In case you're wondering about the test posts, or any downtime over the past few days...

Starting about 2 weeks ago, we migrated the main website to a new web server hosting company. The basic website took no time or effort to move over and was delivering pages from the new server with no downtime at all — and it should be noticeably faster and better than 99.9 uptime, I'm told.

At about the same time, I started transferring the files on our photo gallery to the new server. This took about 3 days of steady copying as there are nearly 4 Gigabytes of photos, none of which we wanted to lose. Yesterday around 4 PM Peter, one of the Black Press technicians, and I were able to complete the database part of the process and now the photo gallery is running on the new server too. The only issue with the photo gallery is anyone who's linked to the previous version would have to re-link to the new address to make the photos display.

Today, Peter and I have migrated the forums, so what you're seeing here is the forums at the new address. I don't think we missed any posts during the process, and Peter has put a permanent redirect on the old address to bring you here.

Next, we will migrate the calendar, sometime next week, and finally install the software required to display banner ads from our advertisers, again sometime next week.
