Whipsaw July Run
This is our first official Whipsaw run of the season.
Those going on the Mines and Mountains tour will be joining in as well...
We'll be meeting on July 5th at the Granite Creek campsite for a 10 AM departure. This is about 2 km from Coalmont on the west side of the river, along Rice Road. Coalmont is about 20 km northwest of Princeton if you haven't been there before.
Camping is available at Granite Creek Friday night for $10, but Saturday night you can expect to be staying somewhere along the Whipsaw Trail.
We will be doing a bit of a Lodestone Lake cleanup, reseeding which we didn't accomplish last weekend, and then proceeding down the trail.
Please let us know if you plan on attending by posting here.
Unfortunately we have a previous commitment for the morning of July 5th, but we're hoping to catch up with the group later in the day.
cheers, Dave

Trail Report
Hi Guys,
My family and some friends went up Whipsaw, from hwy 3 this long weekend. We were planning on camping at Wells Lake on Sunday night and heading out through Lodestone on Monday. The main road in from the south off the highway has changed a little at the beginning since last year, when you come in(not that your planning to enter this way) the original left turn is blocked off at 2km, carry on to approx 3 or 4km and make the next left turn you can't miss it!! Once we got up into the mountains the trail was pretty good but there were spots where the snow hadn't melted, the puddles were all full and we had to winch ourselves through a few times. We passed a group of 10 plus trucks camped at the top, a few Km before Wells Lake, some had been down to the lake that day, but reported that it was a tough go. After dinner at 8PM we pressed on a bit, but soon turned around when we reached the next snow bank to find a decent campsite and get the kids to bed.
It sure sucked to have to go back passed all the smirking, half cut 4 wheelers that night, but it was starting get a little “NW challenge” like, which was not on, for this "Family Trip". We found a nice camp spot without to many bugs and we were able to watch a beautiful sun set. In the morning we made our way back home and winched back through the muddy spots.
Anyways, for a full trail report, apparently two familiar, full-size Unimogs linked themselves together and plowed all the way through like a tank train!!!!
Later,
Don

Whipsaw trip to be re-scheduled...
Due to a unforseen rash of mechanical problems amongst the attending group it has been decided to re-schedule the Whipsaw trip to a later date (to be determined).
Thanks,
Andy
