Well I just got an older Disco (1995) last fall and would really like to try some off-roading on the island.. :)
I live in Victoria (James Bay) and would like to know who to touch base with or perhaps someone would like to come with me to give me some practice and confidence!?
Used to live in Nairobi for a bit (and N.Z.) so went bumping around the vleis and visiting the giraffes but that was when I was much younger!! and did some with my Dad...
So, what do you think guys? is there room for beginners?!!

Hi Lee, and welcome to the Island.
There is a small contingent of Land Rover enthusiasts over here and we try to do a few trails and a few coffee meetings a year. So far we've had one event a month this year. I'm laid up this month so I was hoping one of the others would get something going for May. There was talk of an outing to 'Renfrew to the Botanical Beach. Not sure if it will happen next week or not. Keep an eye on here to see if it's a go.
June 12 & 13 is the week end that I have the Land Rover Rally in Duncan. We'll be doing a "no scratch" drive on Saturday as well as socializing all day with a hosted BBQ lunch and Pot-Luck dinner. Sunday we do breakfast at a local eatery then a more challenging drive for the rest of the day. (More Challenging, as in you might, or will, get dented or scratched. Route includes wash-outs, boulders, logs and brush with narrow tracks.)
