I have a 1995 disco 1, the wheel wrench that came with it fits the spare nuts, but not the wheel nuts????
The stainless covers on the wheel nuts have some play in them, but don't come off???
I bought a 28mm 12 point socket (couldn't find a 6 point) & it works on a few but not all the wheel nuts.
Whats the secret to get the wheel nuts off without damaging the stainless caps?

Yes they all wear out after time though because tire shops have done a fine job of loosening the caps with impact gun use.
Here in Vernon, go see Gavin at D&M and ask for a set from one of the half dozen Disco's they've got. The trucks they have are pretty low mileage so the wheel nut caps are still pretty fresh.

Disco wheel nuts...
Just curious...I have a 1995 disco 1, the wheel wrench that came with it fits the spare nuts, but not the wheel nuts????
Is it typical for the Disco road wheel nuts to be a different size than the spare wheel nuts? Seems like an odd thing to do! Would need two wheel nut wrenchs to be always carried.
Maybe the spare wheel nuts being used are not Land rover but some after market size?

The Disco (2 anyway) wheel nuts are the same size as the spare wheel nuts - or should be.
As stated the correct size is 27mm. The problem is you get some corrosion in-between the caps and the nut and a 27mm becomes very tight. Getting the socket on is easy with a little force - off is harder.
Steel wheels use a different nut (no caps) than the alu. wheel.

My stock tire iron fits the steel wheel nuts, but not the SS covered nuts????
All of the SS covers are loose.
I found a 28mm 12 point socket, works on the good nuts, but it won't fit on the rounded off nuts.
I can't (locally) find a 6 point 28mm nor 27mm to try.
Princess Auto only has 12 point sockets.
D&M has 2 Disco's.
I haven't gone there yet as (from past experiance with my Durango) they are expensive & they don't let you go out into the yard to look over the vehicle.
So far I've found that E-Bay UK has been the cheapest place to get the parts I've needed. Shipping from there is alot cheaper than shipping to there!
I just got a bonnet release cable (complete) for $7.00 USD with $5.00 USD shipping.
